Dry Feet
During a recent week long visit to Milos in Greece, we were unfortunate enough to experience weather which according to the locals, was extremely unusual and virtually unheard of during late October and early November. Midweek, the northerly winds became storm force 10 with torrential rain. This resulted in extremely wet footwear and unfortunately for me the only shoes packed for the week! The problem then was keeping feet dry and warm during the evenings and time off the water.
The following solution (a couple of plastic bags) worked really well enabling me to wear socks, keeping them dry and thus having nice warm feet! Dry breathable socks is the other solution but I hadn't packed them for this trip!

PS I have received an e mail from a reader explaining that this might be dangerous. Point taken! I should explain fully however, that I did not walk around the beach with bags on my feet as they were put on to keep my socks dry BEFORE I put my soaking wet shoes on. I also did not walk very far even with my shoes on, thus eliminating the risk of blisters. This was a short term fix so that I had warm dry feet for the evening. As mentioned above I usually carry waterproof breathable socks but I didn't expect such wet weather in Greece in October.
