The inner bag of a wine box

This week's handy hint was submitted by Peter Wrigglesworth and is really amazing.

He puts the innerbag of a wine box to many uses when he's out kayaking. This photo demonstrates how strong and robust the bag is, as it can be stood on without popping.

The bag is easy to inflate through the tap (but watch out for the fumes!!), and can then be put to several uses.

A comfy back rest ...................a pillow.....................and to seal a hatch.

Peter demonstrates that it can be used as a really comfortable back rest for those long crossings, a comfy pillow on a trip or if needed in an emergency, and can even be used to seal some hatches if a hatch cover is lost or fails!!!
Thanks Peter for a really brilliant submission.

Let us know if you can think of another use for this item. I bet there's loads of ideas out there!!

'The many ways to use the inner bag of a wine box have been described
long ago by famous paddler Audrey Sutherland in symposia, articles and
books. It's a good idea to mention it for the benefit of the sea paddler
community, though. Maybe you could add a note referring to her as the
originator of this hint'.

Editors Comment - Thanks Gael for your comments. We have indeed heard of this very famous paddler and her achievements but we had no idea that she had talked about/written about the variety of uses that can be made from this item. Does any one out there want to submit an article about her/ her books/ lectures etc.?
