Iron Age Hill Fort - Jersey

This fantastic red coarse grained sandy beach at Greve de Lecq, Jersey is one of my favourite paddling venues. Not only is the coastline very spectacular (cliffs, hidden bays and sea caves) but the actual bay itself is 'protected' by the rounded hill as shown in the above photo.

Research suggests that this hill has been modified and there are obvious signs of ancient terraces from the late iron age, when similar forts were built in Cornwall and Brittany, and it may well have remained in use into the 15th Century.
