Protect Those Blades

A pair of splits (spare paddles) attached either to the front or back deck, is considered an essential bit of kit which every sea kayaker should carry on all their journeys.

They can be very expensive and are often exposed to abuse and to the elements when attached to the kayak.

Sticking plastic electrical insulating tape is an excellent way of protecting the edges of those expensive blades and will remain attached for many months without deterioration.

As can be seen in the photograph the tape is starting to come away from the edge of the blades but this is after several months use and so refelects the benefit of protecting the edges of the paddles.
